"The Headstrong Foundation"
The Headstrong Foundation hosted its annual fundraising event on Thursday, September 18, 2025. This initiative benefits “Nick's House Philadelphia.” The event took place at The Switch House Hotels, located at 1325 North Beach Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19125.
The Headstrong Foundation saw an incredible turnout of over 250 attendees and raised over $350,000—and counting—to support its vital programs. The Foundation's home in Swarthmore, PA, offers free stays to traveling families heading to Philadelphia for cancer treatments.
September is Pediatric Blood and Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of Nick Colleluori, who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 19, this month remains a part of his legacy and mission through the “Headstrong Foundation.”
This special event’s sponsors—include XTU, true, and The Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center—were filled with dining, dancing, awards, and a tribute to the Foundation’s founder’s legacy. It promises to be an unforgettable evening.
Awards were presented to recognize Penn Medicine’s Hematology and Oncology team for their exceptional care of patients and families during treatment. Dr. Alison Loren accepted the award on behalf of both departments.
Sam Adolph, a board member of The Headstrong Foundation, was present to receive the Headstrong Spirit Award for his outstanding contributions to advancing the Foundation’s mission in the fight against cancer. Cheryl Colleluori, Nick’s mother and President of The Headstrong Foundation, shared:
“It's been 20 years since Nick was diagnosed with cancer and started us on this journey. September is a month that has forever changed our lives, and I'm grateful we can make it a month dedicated to helping other families and continuing the mission Nick entrusted to us.”
Cheryl Colleluori started running The Headstrong Foundation in 2006 following Nick’s passing. Over the past 19 years, the Foundation has raised more than $38 million and assisted over 39,000 families with housing, financial, and emotional support.
Founded by Nicolas Colleluori, a Division 1 athlete who was terminally diagnosed with cancer, the Foundation keeps his memory and legacy alive. His vision of providing residential, emotional, and financial support to families nationwide continues to drive their mission.
Nick’s House, part of The Headstrong Foundation, exemplifies this commitment.
For nearly two decades, The Headstrong Foundation has impacted countless lives, standing as a dedicated ally to those fighting cancer by providing vital care and access. To learn more about The Headstrong Foundation and A Night for Headstrong, visit headstrong.org.
